Daybreakers – they want to suck your blood

December 15, 2009 Leave a comment

If you haven’t heard of Daybreakers yet… then you should have. It’s a vampire film set to be released in January 2010. But this one starts where the usual vampire films end. Basically the bloodsuckers have won. It’s the year 2019 and a plague has turned most of the world’s population into vampires. If you think that sucks, it gets worse. With dwindling blood supplies the vampires turn to farming humans for their blood – think Matrix type human farms. Luckily for us there are two teams on our (human) side 1) a ‘secret’ team of vampires who have found a way to rescue the human race and 2) the usual group of untainted humans who are basically trying to kick as much vampire ass as possible.

Over the last few years we’ve seen quite a few vampire movies coming out. But this one looks like it’s going to be a bit better than those straight to DVD attempts of Steven Segal. The cast includes Ethan Hawke (a good guy vampire trying to save the humans), Willem Dafoe (a cured vampire who doesn’t seem to like Ethan Hawke’s character) and Sam Neil (a vampire in charge or a large vampire corporation). To me it seems like a decent cast for a dark, futuristic vampire film.

In order to get you psyched over the film I’ve included a few choice morsels:

  • Click here for the trailer
  • Click here for the official movie site – there is some awesome content here, but it does take a while to load and can tend to chew bandwidth.
  • Click here for the website ‘Capture Humans.com’ which is a marketing site for the film. It is supposedly a help guide on how to catch humans and conserve your use of their blood. A bit creepy, but pretty cool. It’s also worth giving their Facebook app a try. You might enjoy it.
